The federal government allocates roughly $150 billion per year in federal student aid. Despite this significant investment, tuition prices remain high, student debt burdens continue to grow, and outcomes are lackluster at many institutions of higher education. BPC is focused on developing policies that promote affordability, incentivize improvements in student outcomes, and reduce equity gaps, with the goal of ensuring that the postsecondary system is broadly accessible to every American and provides students with a positive return on their investment.
