Nearly six years after Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico, the island still faces complex obstacles to achieving a full recovery. Cumbersome administrative processes, complex spending requirements, and challenges in addressing longstanding social and economic vulnerabilities before Maria are just some of the obstacles that have made the recovery difficult, even with a historic allocation of federal disaster funds.

In this fireside chat, BPC’s Disaster Response Reform Task Force will host Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi for a discussion on the state of the ongoing recovery and opportunities to make federal disaster assistance for Puerto Rico more timely, equitable, and impactful.

Introduction by:

Fernando Gil-Enseñat | Principal, FGE LLC; Former Puerto Rico Secretary of Housing

Fireside Chat:

Pamela Hughes Patenaude | Board Member, BPC; Former Deputy Secretary, HUD

Pedro Pierluisi | Governor of Puerto Rico
