Reforming the Inspection Process for the Housing Choice Voucher Program

When

Online

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program helps more than 2.3 million low-income households affordably rent homes in the private market. However, in recent years, many property owners are declining to participate in the program while voucher recipients increasingly struggle to find and secure a rental home to use their voucher.

The inspection requirements to ensure compliance with HUD’s housing quality standards are commonly cited as major barriers to landlord participation in the HCV program because they delay the process to quickly fill units. In this webinar, experts will discuss strategies to improve the inspection process to encourage greater landlord participation and thereby enhance the role of the HCV program in promoting housing stability.
