Is the Republican Party Becoming the Party of Populism?

This event has passed.

While the Democratic Party is often seen as the party of the working class, the Republican Party is increasingly gaining more of the working-class vote. Some conservatives are now supporting union rights and other populist issues that used to be the domain of the Democratic Party.

What’s causing this shift? Is the Republican party fracturing between traditional conservatives and newer pro-labor conservatives?
