Immigration Reform vs. Enforcement Alone

An enforcement-only approach would harm the economy. This policy would reduce GDP by 5.7 percent over the next 20 years. Demand for housing would decline and the federal budget deficit would increase. An enforcement-only approach would also increase the deficit. Over the next 20 years, federal deficits would be $800 billion higher.
