Black Americans are the most unified racial group in American electoral politics, with an overwhelming majority identifying as Democrat. However, in recent years, there’s been an ideological shift towards conservatism within the black community. Despite this shift, Black Americans remain steadfast in their support for the Democratic party, and their vote will play a central role in the 2020 election and beyond.

Join the Bipartisan Policy Center, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, and the authors of the book, Steadfast Democrats: How Social Forces Shape Black Political Behavior, to understand the roots of black political unity, the divergence between party identification and ideology, and the social determinants that influence voting patterns within Black communities.
