Mariam Al-Shamma

Mariam Al-Shamma is an Associate Director with the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Energy Program, where she focuses on carbon removal policies.

Prior to joining BPC, she worked at S&P Global for 12 years, specializing in analyzing, forecasting, and benchmarking above-ground risks affecting the upstream oil and gas sector. Al-Shamma has significant experience covering political, economic, and petroleum sector developments in the Middle East and North Africa, and she has lived and worked in the region. Al-Shamma also worked as a strategy consultant with Monitor Group in its Dubai office, where she worked for government, private sector, and nonprofit clients on a range of projects across the Middle East.

Al-Shamma holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and French Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
