Julie Leathers Stahl joined the Wayne County Board of Elections (WCBOE) in December 2014 as Deputy Director and was appointed Director in January 2016.

Julie is a graduate of Orrville High School; the Wayne County Schools Career Center, where she was named a Distinguished Alumni; attended the University of Akron’s Wayne College, where she was awarded the Wayne Warrior Service Award; and is a cum laude graduate of Ashland University with a degree in Business Management. Julie has held various administrative and managerial positions in her full-time career.

Prior to joining WCBOE, she served as an election poll worker for 22 years, Clerk of Orrville City Council for 10 years, and as Orrville City Council Ward 2 Representative for nine years.

Julie is active in the Wayne County Republican Women (formerly serving as President and Secretary), and the Wayne County Republican Party (formerly serving as Secretary). Julie has served on the Board of Trustees and the Legislative Committee for the Ohio Association of Election Officials (OAEO), is a Regional Meeting Co-Chair, and is a graduate of the Ohio Registered Election Official Program. In 2022, she was named OAEO Republican Volunteer of the Year. She has also served as a Mentor in the Ohio Secretary of State’s Mentorship Program.

Julie is an active member at Orrville Trinity United Methodist Church, Board President of Trinity Christian Preschool, a member of Quota of Wayne County, and is a registered baton twirling coach and judge–being named to the National Baton Twirling Hall of Fame in 2004. Julie and her husband Mark currently live in Wooster with their Poo-Chon named Gibbs.
