David Feinberg, MD, MBA is president and chief executive officer of Geisinger, one of the nation’s most innovative health services organizations which includes 13 hospital campuses, a nearly 600,000-member health plan, two research centers and a school of medicine that serve and care for over three million residents in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

With a focus on caring for patients and members, Dr. Feinberg launched SpringBoard Health®, a population health initiative to improve the health of an entire community; Geisinger’s ProvenExperience?, to provide refunds to patients unhappy with their care experience; and Geisinger’s MyCode® Community Health Initiative, the largest healthcare system-based precision health project in the world that is integrating medically actionable results in routine clinical care while conducting extensive research. To date, nearly 200,000 volunteer participants have enrolled.

Recognized nationally as a top healthcare leader, Modern Healthcare named Dr. Feinberg one of 12 industry disruptors who share the number two spot on the magazine’s 2018 “Most Influential People in Healthcare” list. He is also ranked third among Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders and listed among Becker Hospital Review’s 100 Great Leaders in Healthcare.

Dr. Feinberg earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated with distinction from the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He completed an internship in pediatrics at Loyola University Medical Center, and residency and fellowship training in psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. A well-known national speaker and author of numerous articles and co-author of “ProvenCare,” Dr. Feinberg is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and received the Cancro Academic Leadership Award from the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Feinberg served as CEO of UCLA’s hospitals and associate vice chancellor of UCLA Health Sciences, as well as president of UCLA Health System.
