About Us

The Elections Project explores and analyzes the entire election administration ecosystem, from voter registration to casting a ballot to the counting and finalizing of results. Its goal is to help policymakers enact sustainable bipartisan policy reforms, informed by election officials, that improve the voting experience for a diverse electorate.

    The Structural Democracy Project examines the underpinnings of American government and their impact on the nation’s direction and its citizens. Its goal is to identify where maintaining or changing a governmental or electoral processes could better support a free, fair, and representative democracy. 

  • Digital Democracy

    The Digital Democracy Project builds bridges between the technology community and the democracy community to help our nation evolve into the 21st century. By convening a wide variety of government, private, and civil society stakeholders, the Digital Democracy Project provides nuanced and actionable best practices on some of the toughest problems facing the internet and politics.

  • Presidential Leadership

    The Presidential Leadership Initiative bolsters the institution of the American presidency by highlighting the importance of the office in myriad contexts, including historic anniversaries, current events, and election seasons. It explores potential policy pathways and evaluates which issues are better addressed through the presidency as opposed to Congress, and vice versa.

  • Campus Free Expression

    The Campus Free Expression Project, which believes a free and open society depends upon the free and open exchange of ideas, promotes campus policies and programs that foster a safe and welcoming environment for robust intellectual exchange.

  • American Congressional Exchange

    The American Congressional Exchange (ACE) program enables members of Congress from opposite parties to visit each other’s districts, have valuable discussions on shared interests, and build the cross-party relationships that are essential for collaborative problem solving in an increasingly polarized Congress and nation away from the pressures of Washington.
