Nuclear Waste Storage in the United States

Nuclear waste must be stored away from the public to protect us from its radiation and to let it cool down. To aid in the cooling process, nuclear waste is first placed in wet storage which is basically a very deep pool. If these pools fill up, which they are as progress for national nuclear waste management has halted, the waste is transferred to dry storage which is basically a strong concrete tube. Whether it is in a pool or a tube, the nuclear waste is safely stored across the country.
