Iran's Nuclear Program: Status and Breakout Timing

Although it remains unclear if Iran has mastered the technology needed to construct a working nuclear weapon, Iran now could, if it so chooses, produce 20 kg of highly enriched uranium (HEU)—one nuclear device’s worth—in as little as two months. Thus, the Islamic Republic of Iran could be a de facto nuclear power before 2011 is over.
