Washington, D.C. – Bipartisan Policy Center Director of Strategic Initiatives Michele Nellenbach today released the following statement on news Congress has approved water infrastructure legislation:

“We applaud Congress for reaching bipartisan agreement in passing the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act, legislation that will strengthen America’s water infrastructure, protect vital resources, and promote economic growth and competitiveness. We are also encouraged by the funding commitment made to the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program. As discussed in BPC’s Executive Council on Infrastructure’s report Bridging the Gap Together: A New Model to Modernize U.S. Infrastructure, WIFIA will bring the public and private sectors together to deliver critical water projects across the country.

“We look forward to building on these achievements and working with the new administration and Congress on a comprehensive infrastructure plan that will provide robust federal resources and spur increased private investment.”
