Trump Higher Education Principles Include Promising Approaches

Washington, D.C.– The following is a statement from Kenneth Megan, senior policy analyst at the Bipartisan Policy Center, on the higher education modernization principles released by the White House today:

“The Trump administration has outlined several promising policy approaches on reforming the higher education system that could serve as a blueprint for reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. Several of the ideas outlined today, such as providing better information to students and simplifying the financial aid process, benefit from having robust bipartisan support in Congress. Others, such as strengthening institutional accountability, could benefit from additional clarification on how this could be achieved while simultaneously promoting access and success among traditionally underserved populations.”
