Statement on the Passing of Pete Peterson

Washington, D.C.– The following is a statement by Bipartisan Policy Center President Jason Grumet on the passing of Pete Peterson:

“Pete Peterson was a consistent and courageous voice for federal fiscal sanity. Mr. Peterson and the legacy he created at the Peterson Foundation are the inspiration and anchor for dozens of organizations fighting to reign in our dangerous national debt. There is much work left to do. The FY2018 deficit will exceed $1 trillion, a fiscal travesty at a time of economic expansion in peacetime. The Bipartisan Policy Center is proud to have worked with Mr. Peterson and we send our condolences to his family, the members of the Peterson Foundation and all those who worked with and admired him.”
