Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, May 21, former Secretary of Agriculture and Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) Prevention Initiative Co-Chair Dan Glickman will participate in a panel discussion on ways to bring healthy food to scale across sectors at the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans Summit. The 2015 Dietary Guidelines bring a renewed focus to the role food plays in the health of our nation. The panel will address how many of America’s public health and nutrition challenges could be well served by public-private partnerships that engage all relevant stakeholders.
Last year, BPC’s Prevention Initiative provided comments to the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee as they developed this important tool to guide healthy eating for all Americans. The input was consistent with the recommendations in its 2012 report, which stressed that the Dietary Guidelines should be rigorously science-based, backed by adequate new research, and insulated from political interests.
