Former Vice President Biden Receives BPC Congressional Patriot Award

Washington, D.C.– Tonight, former Vice President Joe Biden received the 2017 Congressional Patriot Award from the Bipartisan Policy Center. The award recognizes leaders who demonstrate political courage and exceptional leadership throughout their careers, even in the most partisan of times.

The award was presented as part of BPC’s 10th Anniversary celebration at the Newseum’s Knight Conference Center.

“Since 2007, the Bipartisan Policy Center has worked to develop real solutions to America’s toughest policy challenges. As we celebrate recent achievements, we are mindful that many of our nation’s key institutions are under great strain. It is gratifying to be in the company of so many pragmatic partisans who have the courage to collaborate in the public interest,” said BPC President Jason Grumet. “It is a great honor to be joined by Joe Biden. Throughout his career, Vice President Biden has devoted his remarkable energy, passion, and unyielding determination to helping people. Joe Biden’s unrivaled authenticity and political courage has helped lead our nation through tumultuous times. BPC honors his example and expresses deep gratitude for his distinguished service.”

BPC also presented its inaugural Legislative Action Awards earlier in the evening to recognize lawmakers helping breathe new life into a partisan legislative process. The honorees were Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), and Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).
