BPC’s Tracy Terry on Energy Research Funding in Omnibus

Washington, D.C.– The following is a statement from Bipartisan Policy Center Energy Director Tracy Terry on the increased federal commitment to energy research in the fiscal year (FY) 2018 omnibus spending bill:

“The Bipartisan Policy Center commends Congress for its continued support of Department of Energy innovative research programs that enhance U.S. energy technology leadership, economic competitiveness, and national security for the benefit of all Americans in the omnibus legislation.

“The omnibus provides funding vital to the support of transformational energy research, including innovative programs such as the Advanced Research Projects Agency—Energy (ARPA-E), the energy innovation hubs, and the energy frontier research centers, which are filling critical gaps in the development of advanced energy technologies. These programs are complemented by work at the Office of Technology Transitions, which ensures that research investments are made accessible to the private sector for commercialization.

BPC would like to especially thank appropriators who championed the important energy innovation work DOE is doing for the economic and security benefit of the American people.”
