BPC Urges House to Uphold Commitment for a September Vote on Infrastructure Package

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Jason Grumet, president of the Bipartisan Policy Center, on the House’s decision to delay voting on the bipartisan infrastructure package to late September:

“Adoption of the bipartisan infrastructure legislation will create jobs, clean the environment, and strengthen our democracy. This is a once in a generation opportunity to modernize our infrastructure. It is disappointing that the House has further delayed action on a $1 trillion package of critical investments that enjoys broad bipartisan support both on and off the Hill.

“BPC applauds those moderate members who have fought so hard and succeeded in ensuring the infrastructure deal will proceed to a vote on its own merits. This legislation represents a foundational investment to restore and improve communities across the country. No more delays or gamesmanship, the House must follow through on its promise to put the legislation to a vote in late September and deliver for the American people.”
