BPC Supports the Common Sense Coalition

Washington, D.C.– The following is a statement from Bipartisan Policy Center President Jason Grumet:

“The recent government shutdown has again exposed the partisan intransigence that contributes to gridlock and public distrust of the legislative branch of our government. Amidst the rancor being driven by rigid demands on the left and right, the more than two dozen senators in the Common Sense Coalition, and all who join them, are Congress’ best hope for finding bipartisan solutions to our nation’s policy challenges.

“BPC has published a roadmap to a bipartisan way forward on DACA and border security that is already serving as the basis for bipartisan conversations on the Hill. We look forward to continuing to work with these members and others to craft an agreement that will protect the DREAMers and enhance border security.

“The Bipartisan Policy Center commends the members of the coalition and implores House and Senate members to join in their efforts to make government work efficiently and effectively for all Americans, not just in the next few weeks but in the months and years ahead.”
