BPC Report: Public Policy Reforms Necessary for Small Business Recovery and Growth
Washington, DC – Today, the Bipartisan Policy Center, in partnership with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Voices, released their latest report, From Pandemic to Prosperity: Bipartisan Solutions to Support Today’s Small Businesses, which outlines how policymakers should focus their efforts on combating preexisting barriers made worse by the pandemic and ensuring public policy supports small business recovery and growth.
“Small businesses have proven their resilience by enduring the COVID-19 pandemic and consistently adapting to its challenges,” said Dane Stangler, director of strategic initiatives at BPC. “Support for small business has historically been an area of strong bipartisan agreement. The ideas put forth in this report are intended to help policymakers in both parties perpetuate that tradition and support small business growth while helping drive the entire economy.”
“America’s small businesses continue to face significant challenges, with many struggling to hire and retain workers, secure quality child care, and access capital,” said Lauren Anstey, policy director of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Voices. “Small business owners have shown tremendous resilience—and government support has been greatly appreciated—but more is needed from Congress and the administration to help small businesses recover and grow. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Voices is pleased to partner with BPC to offer thoughtful bipartisan solutions, including reauthorizing the Small Business Administration, that can play a crucial role in supporting the nation’s small businesses.”
In the latest national survey of small business owners by 10,000 Small Businesses Voices, 42% of respondents said they were still struggling financially—yet 73% were optimistic about the financial trajectory of their business in 2022.
