BPC Applauds Momentum on Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024
Washington, DC – Today, BPC released the below statement following the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s markup of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, led by committee Chairman Joe Manchin (I-WV) and ranking member Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY). The legislation was reported out of committee by a bipartisan vote of 15-4.

Joe Manchin (I-WV) and John Barrasso (R-WY), and all the members and staff of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, for their work to get to where we are today: a bipartisan, 15-4 vote to move the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 forward,” said Sasha Mackler, executive director for energy at the Bipartisan Policy Center. “This legislation, formed over years of bipartisan conversations, presents a crucial opportunity to pass reforms that can ensure affordable, reliable energy while reducing emissions. We are especially proud that many of the bill’s provisions align with BPC’s proposed policy options.
