The former public trustees for Social Security and Medicare, Chuck Blahous and Bob Reischauer, provide a detailed update of the programs financial statuses based on the 2017 Social Security and Medicare trustees reports. Blahous and Reischauer are the most recent public trustees for these programs, and are partnering with BPC to provide independent analysis of the programs while the public trustee positions remained unfilled.

This podcast features an interview with the two former trustees moderated by Susan Tanaka of the Peterson Foundation. It was taped at an event in October 2017 at the Bipartisan Policy Center, Retirement in America: An Issue for All Ages.

The Former Public Trustees’ Project is made possible in part by a grant from the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
