Martin Sabo

Martin Sabo served as a co-chair of BPC’s National Transportation Policy Project. He was a representative from Minnesota’s Fifth District, which includes Minneapolis, from 1979 to 2007. He chaired the House Budget Committee during the 103rd Congress, and was the ranking member of the House Appropriations Homeland Security subcommittee during the 109th Congress. He also served as the ranking member of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee. Sabo served for 18 years as a member of the Minnesota State House of Representatives, including six years as speaker of the House.
