Karen Slachetka

Karen Slachetka is the director of events for the Bipartisan Policy Center where she oversees the organization’s event strategy. She has organized events in more than 25 U.S. cities and in six countries.

Prior to joining BPC, Slachetka was the deputy managing director of strategic convening at the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) where she managed events at the organization’s Washington, DC, headquarters and helped produce the 2024 NATO Public Forum in Washington, DC. Slachetka joined GMF after 12 years at the Brookings Institution, where she served as associate director of event strategy in the Metro program. In that capacity, she led efforts to accelerate the program’s impact and raise the profile of its scholars through direct engagement, event-driven strategic partnerships, and other initiatives.

Slachetka began her career on Capitol Hill, working in various capacities in the New Jersey delegation. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Delaware.
