Dena McDonough is BPC’s associate director of health policy. McDonough joined BPC after serving as Manager of Payment Policy for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) where she developed Academy positions on physician payment and Medicare reimbursement. Prior to joining AAOS, she was a Physician Assistant in orthopaedic surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. While in clinical practice, she was involved in orthopaedic quality initiatives and care redesign for the joint replacement service.
McDonough received her Master of Health Care Delivery Science from Dartmouth College, a joint program between the Tuck School of Business and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. This program was centered around care transformation and the practicalities of achieving the Triple Aim. Her physician assistant education was completed at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in Bronx, New York. She received her early undergraduate education at the University of California Los Angeles and received her B.A. in Italian Studies from Wells College in upstate New York.
