Investing in a Decarbonized America: Energy and Climate Provisions in the IIJA
The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) was signed into law on November 15, 2021, making a historic down payment towards an American clean energy future. By targeting the innovation and demonstration of new technologies, along with modernized permitting processes and significant upgrades to our electricity and transportation infrastructure, these investments will substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a path for the nation to reach net-zero by 2050. The IIJA positions the U.S. as a global leader in innovation while growing the American economy and jobs.
BPC has developed a set of policy and technical analyses of the clean energy and infrastructure provisions in the IIJA. These materials include policy statements, opinion and context blogs, and fact sheets on the economic and climate benefits of the IIJA based on BPC modeling conducted as part of the Decarb America Research Initiative.
