Triangle of Tensions: Turkey, America, and Europe in the Middle East

This event has passed.

Internal political strife has had a profound effect on the always-complicated diplomatic relationships between the United States, Europe and Turkey. At the same time strategic allies and occasional antagonists, each party has a stake in maintaining cooperation to tackle continued crises in the Middle East, yet each party has increased confrontational rhetoric in response to domestic pressures. The importance of understanding the challenges and opportunities of Turkish diplomacy only increases with further uncertainty in Europe and the Middle East, as well as with the unclear response from Washington under the new administration.

Join the Bipartisan Policy Center and Institut des Amériques for a critical examination of the origins, strategies and consequences of Turkish diplomacy and the struggles of the complicated trilateral relations between Turkey, Europe and the United States.
