Hamilton: An American Musical has swept the country and opens in Washington, D.C. in June. But exactly who was the real Alexander Hamilton? He was a complex person: a thinker, economic theorist, and political strategist. Is he misunderstood during this recent resurgence of interest about him?

BPC hosted a discussion with two Hamilton scholars and authors, Peter McNamara and Stephen Knott, on Hamilton’s views on American institutions, trade, elections, and financial systems.

Featuring:

Stephen Knott
Author, Alexander Hamilton and the Persistence of Myth and Washington and Hamilton: The Alliance That Forged America

Peter McNamara
Author, Political Economy and Statesmanship: Smith, Hamilton, and the Foundation of the Commercial Republic
