Our infrastructure needs are greater than any one entity can take on—as seen most recently in Flint. Politics will continue to prevent the federal government from raising enough revenue to fully address the shortfall in infrastructure funding. In Michigan, as across the U.S., we need multiple actors to step up to address the needs of our communities. Cities, counties, and states must do their part, but the private sector also has a critical role to play.

BPC’s Executive Council on Infrastructure and regional leaders hosted a discussion on how the public and private sector can work together to prioritize public value in future infrastructure investments.

BPC also released a paper that includes a series of 14 case studies of infrastructure projects made possible by public-private partnerships, including the Metro Region Freeway Lighting project in Detroit. View the case studies.
