The housing affordability crisis is adversely impacting communities across America. In Oregon, as in much of the nation, population growth continues to outpace the development of affordable housing, limiting options for thousands of residents and contributing to housing instability and rising rates of homelessness.
Join the Terwilliger Center for the 11th installment of our Leaders Speaker Series, featuring Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek. A champion for housing affordability, Gov. Kotek has made this issue a top legislative priority. On her first day in office, she declared a homelessness state of emergency and set an ambitious statewide goal to build 36,000 new housing units annually. In 2024, she worked with the Oregon legislature to pass a $376 million bipartisan spending package to fund affordable housing construction and reduce homelessness throughout the state.
This event will highlight Gov. Kotek’s strategies to advance long-term housing solutions. It will also explore how Oregon’s approach can help inform the work of policymakers nationwide as they seek to improve housing affordability in their communities.
