The United States is poised to dramatically increase the buildout of clean energy technologies across the country, but one hurdle remains: securing the permits.

The current process can be long and cumbersome, with uncertain timelines for approvals. Both Democrats and Republicans have advocated for improving the permitting process to reduce emissions and energy costs while increasing jobs, energy security, and reliability. Key to the debate is how to improve the efficiency of the process while maintaining environmental standards, respecting scientific integrity, incorporating public input, and fulfilling the needs and priorities of local communities.

Momentum is building in Washington to reach a bipartisan solution – with actions to advance permitting reform advancing in both the House and the Senate.

Join the Bipartisan Policy Center to hear from John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation, as he lays out the Biden Administration’s priorities for permitting reform to accelerate a clean energy economy and achieve the goals of the President’s Investing in America agenda. Podesta will provide keynote remarks, followed by a fireside chat with BPC’s Director of Energy Policy and Carbon Management Xan Fishman.
