The Bipartisan Policy Center is partnering with the University of Aberdeen, Scotland for this event. Founded in 1495, Aberdeen is the ‘Scottish University of the Year 2019’ with an ambitious international outlook.
On the 75th anniversary of the failed plot to kill Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944, liberty and democracy again stand at the crossroads around the world. Nations face the challenge of how to foster depolarization and to restore bipartisanship before it is too late. Policy makers in the United States and elsewhere in the free world also face the challenge how best to respond to quests for assistance from opposition groups in countries that have turned to tyranny.
Join us as we discuss with historians, policy makers, and the son of Hitler’s failed assassin Claus Count Stauffenberg the policy lessons and legacies of this momentous event for repairing the world in which we live.
