In the final days of 2018, Congress passed the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act providing the most significant changes to the federal government’s data and evaluation infrastructure in a generation. The legislation implements half of the recommendations from the U.S. Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking, including key provisions to strengthen privacy protections, improve secure access to government data, and enhance government’s evidence capacity.
