Building a Bipartisan Housing Agenda This Congress

The pandemic elevated the critical importance of housing stability, quality, safety, and affordability—and policymakers responded with unprecedented levels of housing assistance. Yet many struggling families still face the threat of eviction or foreclosure, while rising prices and limited supply are hamstringing would-be homeowners. Longstanding racial inequities—evident in disproportionately high housing costs, entrenched segregation and poverty, and stark disparities in homeownership and family wealth—remain unaddressed too.

Join members of BPC’s recently launched Housing Advisory Council to discuss bipartisan opportunities in the year ahead to:

• Ensure the housing needs of those affected by COVID-19 are met,
• Advance racial equity and opportunity through housing policies, and
• Grow the supply of affordable homes.

The chairman and ranking member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance, Reps. Emanuel Cleaver, II, (D-MO) and Steve Stivers (R-OH), will also share their perspectives, priorities for the 117th Congress, and ideas for bringing the two political parties together on housing policy.
