The 2016 election set the stage for the presidential transition and appointments, filling the Supreme Court vacancy, and whether the next president and Congress can work together to address the issues facing the country. The results also gave insight into whether the country can expect more gridlock in Washington, whether the electorate has grown more polarized, and what these mean for the next president’s ability to govern.

One week after the election, BPC hosted pollsters Whit Ayres and Mark Mellman, and Wall Street Journal reporter Janet Hook to analyze the election results and speculate about what they mean for the country’s political future.
