Disaster Response Reform Task Force

BPC’s Disaster Response Reform Task Force is a bipartisan group of emergency management and disaster recovery experts with diverse expertise from prior roles in government, the private sector, and nonprofits.

First convened in 2020 and relaunched in 2023, the bipartisan task force is working to:

  1. Identify and document the most problematic and pervasive barriers to providing critical federal aid to communities in crisis and promoting speedy and equitable disaster recoveries
  2. Create a broad-based, bipartisan understanding of, and a sense of urgency around, needed reforms
  3. Advance policies that will improve the provision of federal disaster assistance and the lives of disaster survivors
