Who: Foreign Policy Project

What: Join the Bipartisan Policy Center in Ukraine at the Crossroads: Democracy, Geopolitics, Economics and Energy, a discussion on how current issues are interacting to drive events in Ukraine, how the U.S. and E.U. should react and what the implications will be for E.U. and U.S. interests in the longer-term.

Who: G. William Hoagland, Senior Vice President of the Bipartisan Policy Center

What: The Oklahoma Policy Institute is hosting the Statewide Budget Summit: Navigating the Perilous Fiscal Waters, a statewide budget summit where participants will hear top experts discuss key budget and tax issues shaping Oklahoma’s fiscal future. Over lunch, the keynote speaker, William Hoagland, will provide the national budget outlook. The day will conclude with an optional advocacy workshop intended to help train concerned citizens to engage in favor of fair and adequate funding of public services.

Who: Energy Project

What: Navigating the Oil Frontier: The Implications of the Tight Oil Boom on Arctic and Ultra-Deepwater Oil Development is the fourth session of the New Geopolitics of Petroleum and Natural Gas Series. The first panel will consider the potential for competition from unconventional oil, as well as infrastructure, technical, safety, and access issues, to influence the prospects for Arctic and ultra-deepwater oil production. On the second panel, panelists will consider specific challenges associated with the Arctic’s unique geology and environment, and how these challenges will be impacted by climate change adaptation. Who: Immigration Task Force

What: Join BPC and former Secretaries Michael Chertoff, Henry Cisneros and Condoleezza Rice in Immigration: Demographic Trends and National Security Imperatives, a conversation on immigration’s implications for demographics, economics and the future of U.S. national security. At the event, BPC will release a related demographics report and Task Force statement.

Thursday, January 23

Who: G. William Hoagland, Senior Vice President of the Bipartisan Policy Center

What: William Hoagland will discuss the federal budget in Strategas 2014 Public Policy & Election Outlook Conference. Other topics addressed in the two-day conference include monetary policy, election outlook, immigration reform and defense. The conference will take place at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

Who: Immigration Task Force

What: BPC is hosting Immigration Reform: Pennsylvania and the Nation, a panel to explore the implications of immigration reform for Pennsylvania and the nation. The event will bring together a group of politically diverse individuals with unique, extensive understanding of issues surrounding immigration reform and its potential effects on local Pennsylvania communities. Drawing from their own experiences as leading local and public figures, the panelists will discuss and debate the crucial questions surrounding immigration reform.
