Anthony David "Tony" Blankley (January 21, 1948 – January 7, 2012)

It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Tony Blankley.

The former strategist, political commentator, columnist and aide to presidential hopeful and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was a thought leader, advisor, an astute political strategist, and someone who spoke freely and convincingly.

I had the pleasure to work with Tony the past few years at our Annual Political Summit in New Orleans. His passion for policy and the political process was evident in his wit and wisdom.

At our Summit, Tony didn’t hide his political ideology, and you always knew where he stood, and where you’d stand with him. His rhetoric was always polite and never personal. It was always partisan, but never poisonous.

The political world is its own alumni association. When one of our own passes, we feel the loss together. I know I join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in mourning Tony’s passing.

Our collective thoughts at BPC are with his family during this difficult time.
