Democracy Project Intern, Summer 2012
School: University of Virginia ‘14
Major: Politics and foreign affairs
Current Position & Future Plans: I’m completing my last year at UVA, and then I’m off to law school.
Intern Duties: I focused primarily on research for upcoming Democracy Project publications, including a report about redistricting and a future project about conference committees.
Best Intern Memory: The free food in the snack rooms and at the events!
On the importance of bipartisanship: Bipartisanship is important because it feels like it’s been a long time since anyone in government paid more attention to governing than politics. Talking about bipartisanship helps to shift the conversation back toward what really matters – governance.
On being in D.C.: Real D.C. natives will probably hate me for saying this, but I actually love the Metro. Even with the crowds, the heat, and the chronic shut-downs, I find it to be incredibly convenient.
