A recent BPC report, Building Prosperity, Stability, and Security Through Strategic Health Diplomacy: A Study of 15 Years of PEPFAR, debuts new and updated analyses showing how PEPFAR has been an excellent example of what we call “strategic health diplomacy,” which is the idea that, by addressing global health, America can advance key strategic and foreign policy objectives.
The report outlines associations between PEPFAR investments over the past 15 years and measures of socioeconomic development; public opinion; governance, stability and civil society engagement; and diplomatic engagement with the United States. It also explores the relationship between PEPFAR investments and the 2014 Ebola epidemic and offers a path forward for both PEPFAR and Strategic Health Diplomacy.
In this webinar, presenters will provide a refresher on PEPFAR, review the findings of the report, and provide background on its analyses. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
