The American Energy Innovation Council (AEIC) is a group of preeminent business leaders who came together last year to highlight the importance of innovating in energy and to call for a more vigorous public and private sector commitment to energy technology innovation. The mission of the American Energy Innovation Council is to foster strong economic growth, create jobs in new industries, and reestablish America’s energy technology leadership through robust, public investments in the development of clean energy technologies.
In June 2010, AEIC released a report, "A Business Plan for America’s Energy Future," outlining concrete, actionable steps to unleash the nation’s technology potential. Going forward, the AEIC will continue to advocate for its original recommendations and other energy technology issues.
In September 2011, AEIC released its second report, "Catalyzing American Ingenuity," which highlights the need for an active government role in energy innovation. The report recommends ways to improve the effectiveness of government innovation programs, and highlights options to pay for energy innovation investments.
