The Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Democracy Project is hosting a series of events on leadership throughout 2012. Each quarter, we will examine a different facet of leadership through conversations with luminaries from various fields. In our inaugural event, retiring Exelon CEO John W. Rowe looked back on his nearly three decades as a key voice on energy and environmental policy and shared his insights on leading a Fortune 200 company through a time of economic and regulatory uncertainty. The 2012 kickoff event featured former Senators Tom Daschle and Trent Lott discussing their own personal approaches to the role of Senate majority leader.
One of the most significant components of improving our political system is bolstering the leadership of our institutions. Reforming laws and rules that guide institutions is an important endeavor, but leaders shape institutions and make reforms effective. The series explores leadership of our institutions in today's polarized political climate.
