Steve Bell is a senior advisor at BPC, having previously served as senior director of economic policy. He worked on the staff of former Senator Pete Domenici from 1974 to 1986 and then again from 1996 to 2009. He served as communications director and later as a defense and energy budget analyst, and was responsible for issues related to the Senate Budget Committee, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the Senate Appropriations Committee.
From 1981 until 1986, he was staff director of the Senate Budget Committee, which Domenici chaired. From 1986 to 1996, Bell was the managing director at Salomon Brothers and opened the company’s Washington, D.C. office. During this time, Bell was also a regular contributor on CNN. Bell was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to the Federal Thrift Savings Plan Board and, after being confirmed by the Senate, served in that position from 1987 to 1992. In addition to his work with BPC, he is the founder of the consulting firm, Steve Bell, LLC.
