The Radical Middle

Those who want a competitive third party should heed this corollary of Murphy's Law--Before you can do anything, you have to do something else first. In the case of third parties, that something else is instituting Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) in every state and community in the United States. IRV will do away with what is known as the "spoiler scenario" and force both major parties to change how they campaign and behave.

Excellent article.

There already is an under the radar political movement called "Radical Centrism,"
sometimes referred to as the Radical Middle. Its membership consists of Independents
and bipartisan Democrats and Republicans, plus "other," miscellaneous third party voters.
See Mark Satin's Radical Middle Newsletter and Dr Ernest Prabhakar's RadicalCentrism.com
Also the New America Foundation / Atlantic magazine is sometimes associated with this
movement. Plus the Quivira Coalition of the American west, which joins together
ranchers, environmentalists, forest servivce pople, educastors, etc, to work co-operatively
to solve real world problems regardless of party affiliation. The philosophy of Radical Centrism
might be summarized as "pick and chose" issues on the basis of merit, always seek some balance of Left and Right, and always seek "out of the box" new ideas with real possibility of practical results for common good.
