On Wednesday, the Bipartisan Policy Center released a report outlining a proposed oversight framework to improve the safety of health IT systems, InformationWeek reports.
The report also called for health IT developers, implementers and users to participate in patient safety activities and leverage the resources of patient safety organizations.
BPC in its report stated that policies on health IT safety should be "aligned with and integrated into well-established patient safety and quality programs, including those that involve accreditation, certification and reporting" (InformationWeek, 2/13).
