"Into the growing fray over how to tackle the country’s huge debt load enters another bipartisan task force, this one composed of veterans of debt battles gone by.

"A group of retired Senate war horses on Monday plans to announce that former Republican Senate Budget Committee Chairman Pete Domenici and Alice Rivlin, a top Democratic economist, will spearhead a year-long effort to devise a palatable plan to slash the federal debt. Unlike many other studies, the Domenici-Rivlin panel will also put forward a detailed blueprint aimed at assuring the country’s future solvency."
