The cyber attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment—widely attributed to North Korea over the film, The Interview — is the latest in a series of major network intrusions that have received wide media coverage. Unlike previous attacks on Target, Home Depot and others, this one resulted in a national discussion on cybersecurity and the appropriate response to cyber attacks, resulting in the initial decision to not release the movie and having been tied directly to a nation state actor.

This intrusion raises a number of questions for the U.S. government:
