The relatively new field of evidence-based policymaking?using data and rigorous research findings to fund programs that work?offers a different lens for making crucial budget decisions. Recent efforts to link federal funding to this different approach have shown promise, but there are challenges and hurdles to more expanded use of this policymaking tool, especially in Congress.
BPC hosted a conversation with Office of Management and Budget Director Shaun Donovan to explore both the challenges and opportunities of this important new field. The event also featured a discussion with a panel of experts.
