Anderson outlined America's long-term debt problem and the fiscal cliff's elements and outcomes
Last week, National Governors Association Deputy Director Barry Anderson, former acting director of the Congressional Budget Office, appeared before the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to discuss the fiscal cliff. Anderson focused on entitlement reform, health care spending, and the political outlook as Congress threatens to forgo immediate action to resolve the crisis.
Anderson contributed to the June report from BPC's Task Force on Defense Budget and Strategy. The task force described the impending sequester as fiscal, economic and national security “folly,” and called for congressional action beginning now to repeal and replace the legislation with a broader fiscal plan that encompasses entitlement and tax reform.
